Below is a list of questions we are regularly asked here at Compton Abbas Airfield.
Are you open Bank Holiday Monday?
We are open on Bank Holiday Mondays, unless otherwise stated.
Can I bring my dog?
Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome both inside, and to our outside seating areas. Please be aware it can be hot and noisy up at the airfield, so do consider if it is right to bring your canine friend along for the day. Please clear up after your dog and dispose of used waste bags in an outdoor bin.
Can I do wing-walking for an experience or charity event?
Wing-walking no longer operates from Compton Abbas Airfield.
Can I hire the airfield / venue?
The airfield grounds cannot be hired for exclusive use, and we are not currently offering venue hire for private events.
Can I camp or caravan overnight?
Flying activity can occur after our opening hours, and our site cannot be used for overnight camping for safety reasons.
Do I have to pay to park?
A parking admission charge may apply on designated days, which can be found on our website’s calendar. Otherwise, there is no parking charge during normal opening hours.
Is there disabled parking, access and facilities?
We have disabled parking adjacent to the main building complex for blue-badge holders. Our entrance path is wheelchair accessible and we have an accessible toilet inside the main building.
Can I charge my electric car at Compton?
There are two electric chargers available to use during the airfield’s opening hours, on the immediate right of the main gates upon entry.
Can I land an aircraft when the airfield is closed?
Visiting pilots cannot land outside of our operating hours. For more information, see our Visiting By Air website page.
Can we tour the aircraft in the hangars?
As the hangared aircraft are privately owned, the hangars are unavailable for public viewing.
Can I charter a flight from Compton Airfield?
Compton Abbas Airfield is a private airfield, and flights cannot be purchased for such purposes as chartering.
Are you able to cater for special dietary requirements?
If you have any specific diets or allergies, please do contact us in advance to speak to one of our staff on The Smokehouse Team and discuss your requirements.
